The ‘International Powered Access Federation’, commonly referred to simply as IPAF, has developed a series of training courses designed to ensure anyone working from height has the appropriate skills to safely operate mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) and powered access platforms. But what exactly does IPAF training cover?

IPAF training includes a range of internationally recognised courses that have been developed and approved by the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF). These programmes provide the technical, theoretical and practical elements required to safely operate access platforms and have been designed utilising the expertise of industry professionals. Their training benefits all types of workers including sole traders, managers and employers.

Working at height with a MEWP is secure and reliable – but only if you put your safety first and follow the necessary precautions. While there are no legal MEWP harness requirements when working at height, wearing one is strongly recommended – particularly for boom lift operators – to help protect you from fatal falls.
